Leadership is not a badge…..but when you’re The Lord Mayor & wearing a WBGS badge, it demonstrates community, impact & legendary leadership!
The program was broken up into 4 main pillars:
World’s Biggest Garage Sale had the opportunity to present under the Sustainability of cities pillar, in the Circular economy and city sustainability stream. We also showcased WBGS at the newly established Innovation Alley alongside other great entrepreneurs, start-ups and new business. The summit was a really great chance to demonstrate how innovative business models and technologies can enhance our cities’ sustainability.
Our Circular economy and city sustainability stream was led by chair Chris McCluskey from ISPT Pty Ltd and it was great to present alongside, Cheng-Ta Hsieh, Deputy Mayor, New Taipei City, Ashleigh Morris & Jaine Morris, from Coreo and Kaitlin Shilling from Arup. The Asia Pacific region is acting on and ready to do more to accelerate the #circulareconomy and taking it one step further Kaitlin Shilling floated the idea of moving to a Spiral economy where we can do more with less ‘stuff’.
#2019APCS is a fantastic platform for driving innovation, city partnerships and economic growth in Brisbane, Australia and the Asia Pacific region. It was brilliant to share our WBGS journey with city and business leaders in the region. Well done Brisbane and big thanks to the Lord Mayor and his team for bringing this great event to the River City.
