About this Event
Join us for a fun SATURDAY SESSION Repurposing and Transforming Textiles into a New Rug with Professor Rowena BarretT.
Join WBGS for a fun afternoon of textile upcycling, led by local QLD Leader Professor Rowena Barrett.
Do you have old sheets and pillowcases? Most of us do. They pile up and lay dormant, but the pile never seems to go down.
Join us on a Sunday afternoon to learn how to make the ultimate repurposed or upcycled knotted rag rug from old sheets and pillowcases. You can add your personal style to your rug while creating a feature piece for your home or personal space or even as a unique and personal Mother’s Day gift!
By transforming these old textiles that could end up in landfill, you are helping to support the environment and our local circular economy.
Professor Rowena Barrett is Executive Director, QUT Entrepreneurship and has a passion for Upcycling textiles. Rowena is an experienced and authentic leader who brings integrity, purpose and commitment to engaging people across many domains inside and outside the university around entrepreneurship.
