Volunteer Day

During February we were delighted to host a group of volunteers from TechnologyOne to lend a helping hand at our Circular Economy Precinct.

They came to volunteer with us as part of TechnologyOne’s foundation. Created in 2016 by founder Adrian Di Marco, it was established as a way for the TechnologyOne organisation to give back to the community and it’s at the heart of their corporate and social responsibility strategy. The foundation provides team members with a means to support nominated charities and now social enterprises through fundraising initiatives.

Through the foundation, TechnologyOne are committed to making a difference to underprivileged and at-risk youths in our communities, by empowering them to transform their lives and create pathways of success. Their goal is to provide young people with every opportunity to positively impact the future. It is through youth that they believe they can have the greatest impact on the future.

Since 2020 they have decided to help volunteer at not just charities, but social enterprises as well, as they see they are making the same impact in communities as charities. TechnologyOne people have an incredible range of skills that can be a huge help to social enterprises like ours and through the foundation they have the opportunity to take 2.5 days paid volunteer leave to lend a helping hand to an organisation of their choice.

The volunteers had an inside look at what we do here at the World’s Biggest Garage Sale, then Paul our remanufacturer, took the group through some fun resource recovery activities, including a team phone holder building competition. They also helped our team build some flat-pack desks. A great afternoon was had by all!!

Volunteer Benefits

Volunteering is great for both individuals and teams. People can:

  • gain experience and new skills, bolstering confidence and leading to a sense of achievement and accomplishment;
  • socialize, meet new people and expand their network of contacts, which improves wellbeing;
  • help grow a worthwhile activity that is addressing a real-world problem and give back to the community and feel hopeful and empowered as a result;
  • develop staff skills, build teams and bolster your reputation within your local community.

If your business is looking for team bonding volunteer days that give back to the community and help your team grow, head to our volunteer page today and complete the form.
